It's happening out there-- players are blocking battlemasters by flooding around them, and hiding them inside other models, leaving them unclickable. We've heard about this before, and apparently it's a growing problem.
So Blizzard has come up with a fix-- in 2.4, says Tigole, all the battlemasters will be standing on platforms, which will be coded with collision, so player models can't invade them. It's not that big a change (imagine the auctioneers in Ironforge and Silvermoon), but it should make for a little different visual-- it'll be a crowded little pavilion where the battlemasters are in Shattrath.
Of course, that doesn't solve the problem of blocking NPCs, only of blocking battlemasters. But there are probably enough repairers and questgivers around at this point that there's no reason to put all the NPCs on pedestals just to keep them away from the maddening crowd.
Since when is there only one Battlemaster? There's one in EVERY major city, the ones in SMC being the loneliest of them all.
Next time, go look for another battlemaster. This is like the idiots crying because someone is blocking the arena vendor in A52, while the one in Gadgetzan chills in the sun.
It is called common courtesy. People who do this on purpose, much like the people who defend their actions are most likely disgruntled and dysfunctional teenagers who are such worthless d-bags in real life that you have to come into a game and smirk as you play with yourselves to the rush of making people miserable in a video game.
Some possible solutions:
1. Make Battle Masters taller so there easy to target.
2. Make everyone within a certain radius invisible.
3. Make the area around the battle masters full PVP. (Not going to work but fun)
4. Make people spawn at a different location after a battle ground.
